solid gold on SNL....

for you michael phelps' fans, saturday night live just announced he will be hosting SNL on its fall premiere on september 13th.

i wonder if he'll wear all his gold medals around his neck during his monologue! or better yet.....his speedo that i heard took hours getting into.

four inches...

i chopped four inches off my hair. mickey was in town and she said that i was looking old and haggard with my hair almost to the ground. i was looking like the girl in the movie "the ring." so she convinced me - more darn-right pressured me - into cutting more than the usual standard two inches that i let her cut every six months.

i have to admit that i like it. with this summer being so blasted hot, it was usually in a pony tail. which mickey absolutely hates. her philosophy: why have long hair if you're not even going to do it? sometimes she can be right. and other times i just let her give her lecture and then turn back to watching the colbert report.

contemplation.....

i know its been over a month since i last posted. i'm ashamed. i'm embarassed. i used to be so good about blogging. and its not that i don't have interesting things to blog about here in utah. that used to be the excuse after i moved back from nyc. but not true now. too many interesting things to blog about it. and i need to more. but frankly.....its time. i've enjoyed my summer too much and its finally catching up with me. this fall i'm going to start setting aside blog dates with my computer so that i never let another month lapse like this again.

on a sadder note, its been quite the week of contemplation. i found out on monday that a classmate of mine from high school died in a plane crash in guatemala. the plane was chartered by a nonprofit organization based out of utah to go and help build homes for the guatemalan people. this former classmate was one of the volunteers on board. he left behind a wife and three children that are still residing in my hometown. my friend dall also know two of the people on the plane - the in-country directors that were guatemalan. a great husband and wife who always let people into their homes and wanted to just give what they had to those around them. i read in the paper that trust funds have been set up for all the families of the victims, so if you want any information to donate, please contact me.

its crazy how things can change so quickly. and it both saddens me and inspires me when good people are taken from us so soon.

we got the news about this on monday, so to lighten our hearts we did what any ordinary person would do - watch a korean mini-drama. my friend cw found the goldmine in the sl city library when he discovered the 20 episode series of Spring Waltz. i'm shocked that this masterpiece didn't receive an oscar nom, better yet a grammy nom for the constant motif of music that would play continually through the movie - oh my darling clementine. i think koreans must have a love affair with old american folk songs.
